I Saw a Colour
I saw a colour and thought it was you,
hanging on the back of the chair,
a blanket with no business being there.
Even though, straight away, I caught on
to my mistake, I buried my face
to breathe in suede, the slightest trace
of cigarette smoke and soap,
my heart wrung out like a rag
by a colour: your shade.
