It is the colour of Sunday afternoons —
those short endless hours,
honey-sun dripping through the window.
It is the bus journeys to see
the glint of waves, push coppers into slot machines.
Porch-lights coming on as we get home.
It is days spent reading on the summer square,
warmth spreading slow like butter,
bubbles dancing overhead.
It is the egg yolk staining my pyjamas
and the mornings spent with you,
curtain-edges glowing gold.
