Four Corrán Tuathail Seasons In One Day
all came together, that day
like conquerors of Everest
sun dominant over cumuli
smatterings of fall flowers
virgin snow after
early warm prevailings
wind spat from the north
cold front over Sionainn
we huddled together, as one
anoraks, hoodies
Árann hand-knitted jumpers
triple lined waterproofs
walking boots, poles
water bottles, snack bars
the odd bruised banana
in designer back packs
with maps as much use as
flyers of Craggy Island beach
for sat-navs inoperative
no signal on phones
horizon ten feet away
so far, far from home
teeth chattering
about nothing
noses numb to the touch
then suddenly the sun
clouds floating off south
route back to civilisation
reopened
safe, secure
